The Uncertainty of Tomorrow   Leave a comment

Chicken: It’s What’s for Dinner
In most jobs, you have a good idea of what you will be doing the next day. You have your schedule and your work load in good order and your priorities are unlikely to shift dramatically. However, in the world of a startup, this is not the case.
For example, my plan yesterday was to put in a solid number of hours building out our database. Within the first 30 minutes of starting my day’s work, my partner and I received a call from our lawyers at WilmerHale Venture Group. In an instant we had to re-prioritize our entire day in order to build out a market capitalization table; set a fair market value for our company; and review Restricted Share, Incentive Stock Option, and Non-Statutory Stock Option issuances, consulting agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and non-compete agreements. The work was most certainly interesting, but also unexpected.
Uncertainty is the norm at a startup, except when looking to what will be on the (dinner) table. (Hint: It’s always chicken…)

Moved in to the Home Office!!!   Leave a comment

Day 1 at the NiteFly Office (please forgive the momentary clutter):

Having left the rigid and bureaucratic i-banking structure, I am now embarking on my first, full-time job as an entrepreneur with NiteFly. I am very excited to gain operational experience, learn how to build a company from the ground up, and join the NYC tech community. Sorry for the short post, but I have to get back to work!
